Shan United FC are on the verge of winning a historic league and cup double as they prepare for their final game of the domestic football season.
The Warriors from Shan State claimed their first trophy of the professional football era in Myanmar, when they defeated Yangon United 2-1 in the General Aung San Shield final on Wednesday.
Shan are also top of the National League table and two points ahead of fellow title contenders Yangon.
Shan host Hantharwady United in their final match of the season at Taunggyi Stadium on Sunday, knowing that a win will secure them their first-ever league title.
But a draw could be also enough if Yangon fail to beat the already relegated Chin United at the Yangon United Sports Complex.
Before the season started Shan United were considered third favourites to win the National League, but they have been the most consistent team this year, having won 16 of their 21 matches so far.
Should they win their final match, Shan will become the first team to break the dominance of Yangon and Yadanarbon since professional football in Myanmar was established in 2009.
The closest the Warriors have come to winning the league before was in 2012, when they finished second and just one point behind Yangon.
Winning the National League will guarantee the champions a place in the qualifiers of Asia’s biggest club competition; the AFC Champions League.
