MYANMORE catches up with the team to get a glimpse of this exciting project.

Q: What inspires you guys to come up with the idea of building a bazaar in downtown Yangon?
A: Our group has been operating night market booths since the start of the trend with BKK group and Yangon Fashion Village. We saw the marketing opportunity for bazaar and weekend market in Yangon, and the market demand for a permanent setup. Therefore, we decided to setup a permanent bazaar market in at Urban Asia Center, Corner of 48th Street and Mahabandoola street. The location is pretty ideal for the market as downtown is the center of economic for Yangon.

Q: What’s the concept of your bazaar?
A: A few key concepts of the project are: low cost setup, trendy design style, providing unique and vivid indoor environment for shopping and dining.

Q: Bazaar and night market is current trending right now in Yangon. How do you differentiate yourself from other pop up night markets?

A: The current trend are pop up markets at various malls and weekend night markets around Yangon. Most of the pop ups and night markets are temporary which happen once or twice a month during the weekends. We believe fans of such markets would wish to see a permanent setup in Yangon.

Our bazaar is located downtown, which operates daily from 10am to till late from Tuesday to Sunday, except every Monday throughout the year. Our concept is to provide a fun trendy and affordable indoor environment for our consumers patronizing our market. We aim to bring in various international food and authentic local foods in our F&B outlets. In retails, we aim to bring in latest and trendy fashion items through our vendors.

Q: How many zones and booths do you have?

A: 1st Section Food Heaven (Food & Beverages), we are looking for international food cuisines together with local food cuisines. In general, we aim to have various international cuisines from countries across Asia and we are looking at the possibility to have western cuisines from cultures like American, Spanish, Mexican, German.

  • 2nd section Eden Garden (Retail), Our retail section will be designed with a warm and tropical theme. This section will consist of 100+ booth selling fashion related items, ranging from clothing to cosmetic. There will also be other non fashion related products such as electronics gadgets to DIY handcraft products.
  • 3rd section Fun Paradise (Recreation), Our recreation area is equipped with mini stage, dining corner and kids corners. Families can gather here after shopping and food can be dined at this section and the gaming area consists of small funfair style booths.

Q: What do you look for in terms of finding vendors partners?

A: We are open to all entrepreneurs in Myanmar, as night market trend has been around for 9 months; we believe there are experienced vendors operating in these night markets who will be willing to join our permanent bazaar. Currently, there are also various retail and F&B business owners around Yangon looking forward in working with us at the bazaar. Online retails business owner will be looking forward to setting up their booth with us too!

Q: How much is the rental fee?

A: 300,000 – 900,000 ks approximately / month excluding maintenance fee and service fee

Q: When do you expect it to be open?

A: Our schedule for the opening of the bazaar is in December. We will try our best to meet the festive season of December. By December, we will have the bazaar running 6 days a week from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 am till late night.
