The Department of International Trade Promotion, the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government has launched the initiative called “Thai Select” stamp as a guarantee for authentic Thai cuisine in Yangon.
This initiative is currently introduced internationally to assure that the delicious Thai cuisine is being served in a pleasant atmosphere in order to increase the recognition of quality Thai restaurants and processed Thai food products as well as to encourage Thai restaurateurs and food producers to raise their quality while maintaining authenticity.
In Yangon, the prestigious “Thai Select” stamps have been awarded to “365 The Terrace” and “Royal Jasmine Authentic Thai Cuisine.”
365 currently has 3 branches in Yangon; Ahlone branch, marketplace 6.5 miles with a recently opened new branch on the ground floor of City Marty Myaynigone.
While Royal Jasmine is located on the ground floor of tower E, Soho Diamond condo. The Royal Jasmine is also the winner of “Best Thai Cuisine” category for MYANMORE Dining and Nightlife Award 2017.
The certification of “Thai Select” restaurant is divided into two categories based on the decoration and service excellence; Thai Select Premium indicates a degree of excellence of 5-star or higher. The award is granted to restaurants that offers authentic Thai good of premium quality with luxury decoration and outstanding service while Thai Select indicates a degree of excellence of 3-4 stars, awarded to restaurants serving fine authentic Thai food.
To be qualified, the restaurants must be Thai restaurants overseas or a ready-to-eat and/or ready-to-cook processed Thai food manufacturer with at least 60% of Thai food in their menus. The restaurant can apply through www.thaiselect.com The application will be assessed by a qualified committee to visit without notice to evaluate the dining experience.
To approve the authenticity of a dish, there are 29 Thai Select dishes for the committee to chose.Among them, you will find the famous Pad Thai (Thai fried noodle with crushed peanut and bean sprout), Tom Khaa (coconut milk soup) , Tom Yum Goong (spicy tom yum soup with prawn), Ton Mun Pla (fish cake) and Khao Niew Ma-muang (sticky rice with mango).
