[Review] The One Entertainment Restaurant&Bar

By : Sofia Raineri
The One Entertainment Restaurant and Bar is the newest addition to The One Club and KTV on Shwe Gone Daing Road.

On the top floor, it has both indoor and outdoor seating. The terrace offers a magnificent view, as the venue is very close to the celebrated Shwedagon Pagoda which dominates the scenery. The outdoor area provides a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable seating.

Although a little too dark when trying to eat, it is a perfect place to enjoy a few drinks.  The One Entertainment also offers a wide variety of Shisha flavors (40,000MMK) ranging from chocolate to the classic apple or watermelon, perfect to share with a group of people. The staff is attentive without being too persistent, making sure our plates were clean every time and that our drinks were refilled when necessary.

As The One Entertainment is both a restaurant and bar I decided to try their cocktails, choosing from the extensive drinks menu which included various liquors and wine, I opted for a Negroni (5,500MMK), well executed with a zesty orange flavor. My guest opted for their “Healthy” Ginger, on the stronger side but otherwise enjoyable.

The menu offers a range of international food, from burgers to noodles, however, I decided to try their Italian dishes, seeing that the chef is Italian. The Fried Mozzarella Sticks (6,500MMMK) were satisfying and crunchy, definitely one for the cheese lovers, especially as one of the three dipping sauces they come with is a tangy cheese sauce.

The Vegetarian Pizza (12,500MMK) was a pleasant surprise, the base was thin and the toppings were plentiful (onions, bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms and fresh tomatoes), the tomato sauce was flavorful. It makes this pizza stand out over numerous tasteless alternatives in Yangon. I was pleased to see all the pasta is homemade. The Vegetarian

Lasagna (8,500MMK) was cheesy and comforting, the sheets of pasta were thin and cooked well, while the Salmon Ravioli (10,000MMK) pasta dough was a little thick, the salmon filling was tasty and the white wine sauce creamy. The drizzle of spicy oil was a pleasant touch as it cut through the richness of the dish.

The Australian Beef Tenderloin (35,000MMK) was served with a red wine sauce, but there is a variety of sauces to choose from.

The meat was a little over done for my liking, yet it was tender and the sauce was rich and tasty.  I never turn down a dessert, and welcomed the recommendation of the Tiramisu (4,500MMK) the mascarpone was light and creamy, the richness was cut by the delightful taste of coffee.

Granting they have yet to open officially, I believe The One Entertainment Bar and Restaurant will make a fine addition to the Yangon rooftop scene, especially as it can successfully deliver delicious drinks and food over a wonderful view.
