SEEDS Restaurant & Lounge : Hidden Romantic Sanctuary Along Inya Lake

Though SEEDS Restaurant and Lounge has recently hosted its launching cocktail party over the weekend, the restaurant has created a buzz among the local and expat community prior to the opening.

SEEDS has hosted full stream of guests every night. Lucia and her husband, Swiss Michelin Star Chef Felix Eppisser are not unfamiliar name in Yangon food scene. After all, they were the tenants of Le Planteur from 2011 to 2014 before venturing to Malaysia.

The concept of SEEDS is to establish a place of natural beauty with extraordinary culinary experience and personalized hospitality.

One way to describe Seeds is that it is a fine dining experience which is so warm and accessible.

We sat by the Sunset Lounge to enjoy the breathtaking view of Inya lake. We began our experience with the Passion Whisky Fizz($8), a mix of Bourbon, Passion Fruit and Lime Juice, while enjoying the canapé. The experience is one not to be missed in Yangon. It is astounding how Seeds has managed to create this paradise in the congested Yangon.

After the night has come, we walked back to the restaurant for our dinner. We started off with a cup of tomato soup with duck breast and peach which is absolutely delicious. It was rich but not creamy. I could not get enough of it. The next dish was Vegetable Salad( $12)with olives, feta cheese and black truffles. All the vegetables are organic and locally sourced.

If you are a fan of foie gras, you are in for a treat. The combination of Foie Gras ( $19) was an outstanding dish. The medaillon with caramelized pineapple was a bit too strong for me but my colleague was madly in love with the dish.

Felix’s truffle ravioli with truffle foam and leek ( $18) was probably the weak link of the set. It was a mild and safe dish. The next dish, Lamb entrecote ($32), was a knockout. Chef Felix Eppisser used Kale to wrap around the lamb and mushroom to retain the juiciness. The lamb does not have the gamey smell.

Our dessert Freshly Baked Chocolate Fondant ($14) with was a pleasant surprise with its tangy and refreshing taste because of Chef Felix’s use of passion fruit with Chocolate. We completed our dinner with Homemade Friandises.

Our overall experience was satisfying. Yet, one point for improvement would be the knowledge of menu of the staff. Though they are exceptionally attentive, the staff requires more training to be well versed in the menu and the knowledge on paring the dishes with extensive wine list. We have no doubt that this matter will be easily solved in no time.
