That said, Yamaha instruments dominate the store shelves, in fact, many know this place as Myanmar Music Yamaha. Translates to ‘two buildings’, Tike Na Lone is a sleek music store a bit north of Maha Bandoola. This is the closest thing to a western store. The quality is international standards, so as the service. They also have drumkits, keyboards and violins (a common item in Yangon music shops).

This well-run family business is easily the best place to buy keyboard and piano products, they even sell grand pianos. The product in the store is a bit unpredictable, but that’s what gives Guitar 77 its charm. The owners aren’t quick to restock sold items as much as sell cool, new items that you wouldn’t find elsewhere in Yangon. They’ll ship in an electronic guitar with a interesting design, or a light-up sound mixer before filling the shelves with strings or picks. A must visit for any musician based in Yangon, they have drum equipment.

The Lovers is small guitar store where you can find foreign made electric guitars with unique decals. They have mainly Yamaha but also carry Ibanez and Samick which are priced around 304,000 Ks.

The National, like Maung Maw, is a brand as well as a store. Right above this storefront in Bogyoke Market, craftsman make The National acoustic guitars to be sold for as low as 25,000 Ks and as high as 95,000 Ks. Their brand of guitars aren’t great quality but perfect for a casual musician. They sell electric guitars for quite cheap as well. You can get a new Ibanez guitar for 170,000 Ks.

Maung Maw Brothers guitars are Myanmar-made and can be bought directly from the producer at three locations in Yangon. They have a massive stock of acoustic guitars which are sold for around 60,000 Ks, non-Maung Maw guitars are a bit more expensive.

They have three stores. The Bogyoke market location is the most frequented but the one near Yuzana Plaza
