The Oktoberfest Yangon 2015 is an outstanding event organised under the patronage of the German Embassy Yangon, the Hanns Seidel Foundation and the Belmond Governor’s Residence and will take place at the Inya Lake Hotel on 9th & 10th October 2015. The Oktoberfest Yangon aims to increase an understanding of different socio-cultural environments and promotes German-Myanmar friendship.

The Oktoberfest Yangon is proud and honored to have His Excellency Prince Luitpold of Bavaria as a sponsor of the Oktoberfest Yangon celebration. As last year His Royal Highness will be special guest of the Oktoberfest Yangon 2015 and will conduct the official opening at the event in form of the traditional keg tapping ceremony together with the German Ambassador His Excellency Christian-Ludwig Weber-Lortsch.

In the tradition of the original Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, which looks back at a 200 year long history, the Oktoberfest Yangon will of course serve Royal Bavarian Beer and other traditional German drinks. But also the food plays a significant role in the Oktoberfest Yangon celebration. This year we will have a collaboration of chefs under the lead of the Belmond Governor’s Residence to provide exquisite German BBQ and delicacies buffet. Highlights of the catering will be the grilled whole pigs, a special grill which can roast up to 30 chickens at a time and our various German sausage specialties. Of course we will also serve German salad varieties, pastries, Bavarian dumplings and desserts.

The Oktoberfest Yangon 2015 five-man band “MünchnerXindl”, who are playing at the real Oktoberfest in Munich every year, will be flown in directly from Germany to provide our guests with authentic Bavarian sounds, as well as known celebrative international songs.

The festival’s aim is it to offer guests the unique opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the traditional Oktoberfest here in Yangon, Myanmar. The organisers are looking looking forward to sharing an important part of German and especially Bavarian culture with the people living in Yangon, Myanmar.

Tickets for the festival are US$40 on the door. For more information, contact oktoberfest.yangon@gmail.com
