The Rose Garden Hotel, Yangon’s latest premier hotel, is announcing the opening of its new restaurant, “The Portico” and its new bar “The Veranda”.

The Rose Garden’s Culinary Team takes a very contemporary approach to traditional Burmese and Asian recipes, but also imposes a unique twist on international all-time favorites.

“We want to introduce our Myanmar Cuisine, which has been neglected for so many years, to the world,” Executive Sous Chef, Myanmar native Myo Min Soe Oo says with pride. “Our country offers so many different cuisines and such a variety of dishes. It is our commitment to our people, not only to conserve our traditions but also to bring them into the 21st century”.

The Portico Café Lounge features comfortable seating, and an open kitchen allows glimpses of the chefs in action.Portico

The Veranda Bar is Yangon’s combination of a cool cocktail bar and business club. The list of bespoke cocktails mixes classic drinks with custom creations, boasting fresh ingredients and homemade infusions. During the evening, while listening to live tunes from the piano, a great selection of bar foods and snacks is on offer, from cured meats and seafood to grilled skewers and barbecued wings, along with plenty of choices for vegetarians.

The first thing that strikes you when you walk into The Rose Garden Hotel is the interior design. Grand columns and stairways take you back in time, while traditional Myanmar decorations invite you in, to view a banquet hall that can seat up to a thousand people flanking the lobby. The developers made it a key goal of theirs to set themselves apart, by including a feel of Myanmar antiquity in every nook of the 298-room, 30,000 sq. meter luxury residence.

The Rose Garden’s owner, Mary Fong, is a native of Myanmar. When US-Television sat down with Ms. Fong she explained that, “A guest coming to Myanmar should be able to taste our foods, be immersed in our culture and feel the open-hearted nature of our people, without sacrificing the quality of their stay.”

The Rose Garden Hotel is celebrating the opening of these new premier food and beverage outlets on May 15th 2015 with a free cocktail dinner.
