Yangoners were treated to an International Jazz day last week. This is the third year that UNESCO had designated this event, highlighting jazz and its role in uniting people.

The event was opened by Myanmar’s own Yangon ’88 Degree Band. The guest performer for the night was New Orleans-based Davy Mooney of the Theolonius Monk Institute of Jazz.

It was a free event which drew a sizeable crowd, who all found their spots on the IFB garden. The jam session that followed was well- liked by all.
