WHAT IT IS
Good things come to those who wait – in this case those words ring true when we finally located Nervin Café & Bistro after a few misguided directions and setbacks. Firstly, a small fee is required to enter the park. Secondly, there are many retail shops and restaurants littered within the compound so you need to ask around for directions. You’ll find Nervin Café next to Karaweik Hall, perched atop a grassy hill facing the lake. In operation since 2013 at this current location, Nervin Café is spacious and has a modern, rustic décor. They’ve also just expanded another new wing and two new rooms to the café.
ATMOSPHERE
Nervin Café & Bistro epitomises what one looks for in a café – versatility. Their location allows guests to people-watch on weekends or a quiet setting with a book during the day, accompanied by the calming view of the lake in the background and surrounded by a gentle breeze. Their extensive menu has something for everyone whether you’re in need of an afternoon respite with their famous Lavazza coffee and home-made gelato, a romantic dinner date with wine by the lake, or a family gathering of celebrations. They have a very good selection of music from swing to pop and contemporary that makes Nervin a happy place. The staff are attentive and polite.
RECOMMENDATION
The sun was just setting on a busy Sunday when we arrived. The area was busy with cars and people milling about. The Coconut Smoothie was recommended and we concurred – it’s smooth and refreshing. The Quattro Pizza, topped with salami, ham, pork loin, bacon, tomatoes and mozzarella on a semi-thick base. It’s almost crunchy; like having pizza on cream crackers. The Roasted Spring Chicken, served with crispy diced potatoes, grilled vegetables and mushroom sauce was well-plated. The chicken meat was fat-free and tasty. There was no argumenys – we just HAD to have the Gianduia & Mon gelato. In a nutshell, we were in Nutella-heaven.
PRICES
Prices range from 1,500Ks (a scoop of gelato) to 9,900ks (Classic Mediterranean Salad). Wine bottles start from 35,00Ks. Artisan teas are from 2,300Ks. Coffees are from 2,500Ks and smoothies are at 3,500Ks each.
