A Yangon Burger Exploration – Cousins Grill – Part 1

Three hungry guys, two weeks, 11 places and many many burgers. That is what it took us to do this Yangon Burger Exploration to try, document and photo the different burgers on offer in Yangon. Hard work but committed to finding out what is on offer we sacrificed the upcoming beach season. First out of our burger is Cousins Crill

Cousins Grill was opened two years ago by two men from Hawaii and California. You can quickly identify the American heritage by the flag hanging from the wall and the music that’s playing. It’s a quite simple place with some basic booths and tables, clean and a little quiet, with reasonable prices.

Here we tired five different burgers. The Pork Burger comes in first and is average; the bread, lettuce and cheese all taste good, but the patty is needs more taste. The other burgers are all a lot better. The Bacon & Sautéed Onion Burger is served with a thick juicy Cousins beef patty that has a nice salty pepper taste. The burger is somewhat greasy, like a good American burger should be. The Double Burger was not quite balanced in terms of meat and bread; it is actually almost all meat, but that will please the hungry. The Fish Burger has beautifully light butterfish with crispy bread that comes with an amazing tartar sauce. Cousins Grill also serve an In-and-Out inspired Animal Style Burger that is something special, topped with sautéed onion and Thousand Island dressing. This burger instantly becomes one of our favourite burgers in town.

• SIDES:
  All burgers come either regular homemade fries, or ‘just like outside the ballgame’ garlic fries with chopped pieces of garlic; warmly recommended to everyone who loves garlic.
• OVERALL:
  Cousins is a great place with a good selection of burgers. The Animal Style Burger is one of our all time favourites.
